Steps to Make Your Halloween Wall Stickers

1. Draw your Halloween shape templates.

Begin by drawing out your desired shapes onto either scrap paper or cardboard. When you’re done, make sure that the entirety of your shapes fit onto the wallpaper swatch you’re using. If your template shapes feature anything directional, remember that the actual wall sticker will show the reverse of what you’re drawing on the back of the wallpaper.

2. Trace your shapes onto the back of the Peel and Stick Wallpaper.

When you’re happy with your templates, cut them out of the scrap paper. Using those shapes as a template, trace them onto the back of your Peel and Stick Wallpaper.

3. Cut out your wallpaper stickers.

With the scissors, cut out your Halloween shapes. If your design has interior details (like faces on a ghost, cat, etc.) it can be easier to cut out those smaller parts with a craft knife on a cutting mat as opposed to scissors. Sometimes smaller precision scissors can be helpful for more detailed areas.

A pair of scissors with red handles is to the bottom right of the bat, and small scraps of wallpaper from cutting out the bat are around the bat.

4. Adhere your Halloween stickers to the wall.

Make sure your wall is clean and dry, and be sure to read and follow the instructions included with your wallpaper swatch regarding wall preparation and what type of surface you’ll need. Carefully remove the backing from the peel and stick shape and place it onto the wall in the desired position. Use your hand to smooth and press the decal into place. If you want to reposition the decal, gently pull it away from the wall and move it into place.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Spoonflower wallpaper substrate can I make Halloween wall stickers with?
Kathleen is using Peel and Stick Wallpaper here, which is easy to apply and removable.
Where can I find templates for my sticker shapes?
The internet can be a great help for finding the template shapes you’re looking for, so can Pinterest! (And while you’re there, be sure to follow Spoonflower!)
Where can I place my wall stickers?
On untextured walls, of course! For more specifications, see this Help Center article on Peel and Stick installation.
How do I apply my Halloween wall stickers to my walls?
If you’ve ordered a roll of wallpaper, your order should have come with a squeegee, which you can use for this project. If you ordered solely a swatch, your order won’t come with a squeegee, but you can use your hands or an old credit card to apply the wallpaper to your untextured walls.
How much wallpaper do I need?
For this project, Kathleen is using 2’ x 1’ (61 cm x 30.5 cm) swatches of our Peel and Stick Wallpaper. However, this project would work well with any Spoonflower Peel and Stick Wallpaper scraps you might have too!
