“I’m calling this one my ‘pink lemonade’ tablescape. The round tablecloth is Shibori Wing Spots by Nouveau Bohemian. It has hints of navy and yellow so I paired it with yellow dinner napkins,Tropical Geometry by Inna Moreva. Both patterns have very organic shapes so they complement each other perfectly.”

We’ve always been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it’s safe to say our appetite agrees! But just because you might be waking up for the meal doesn’t mean your table decor has to be a snooze-fest. Look at how the master DIY’er Jenni of I SPY DIY transformed her dining area into a quaint breakfast bistro with napkins, a tea towel and farmhouse-inspired tablecloth. With a table set-up like hers, you’ll be wishing you had BTO: breakfast time off.

“I picked out a french feed sack stripe on the tablecloth, with a blush check tea towel to add just a little color to the table, plus a cheeky black and white rooster print for the egg bowl. The combination of prints makes me so happy, and I wish every morning I could sit for hours, and sip coffee at this carb-loaded breakfast!!  Next, I want to order some fabric to sew up some Roman shades for this dining nook.”

Want to know the trick to creating a seasonal tablescape that can still be used throughout the year? Think outside of the box with your color palettes like the lifestyle & home decor blogger behind As Told by Michelle. By avoiding traditional fall colors like orange, red and brown, and motifs like foliage and pumpkins, Michelle’s citrus tablescape still has a fall feel thanks to the additional decor she’s added to her space. Add fall foliage from your backyard or create a centerpiece with gourds for a cozy, autumnal scene, and then play up the citrus elements later on in the year for summer-fun vibes.

“Patterns are everywhere during the fall! When I was creating my tablescape, I wanted patterns that could be functional during the fall as well as all the other seasons of the year. I decided to go with a color scheme that could be used during the spring and summer months as well.”

“I love tea towels, however I have a bit of a time finding designs that are funky and modern. Most seem to lend themselves to a farmhouse style which, although being very cool, doesn’t work for my home style. I was so happy to see that the line of table linens would include tea towels that I would definitely want to see hanging around!”

“Mix textures and patterns for visual interest. You can do this by adding pillows, throws, and napkins. By picking a classic pattern such as stripes in the same colour family, I add a different pattern without visually interrupting the colour scheme. It is also important to break up the pattern with some negative space when you have lots of patterns as well.”

“I chose an eye-catching bright flamingo print for my tablecloth, with a simple monochrome mud cloth print for the placemats and introduced an element of tropical greenery for my napkins. • I wish more designers would make coordinates for just this purpose. I have recently bought some fabric from patricia_lima who has done just that and I plan to make pillows, placemats and napkins using her wonderful pattern coordinates that really work together for my outdoor dining space. Colours match, designs are different but a segment taken from the master design to make the coordinate designs is how to do it! She has accomplished this beautifully.
