Step up your holiday décor with friend of Spoonflower, Emma Jeffery of the blog Hello Beautiful. In our video tutorial below, Emma walks you through the simple steps to make a fabric wall hanging with lovely hand-embroidered details. Emma uses her secret weapon — free design program Picmonkey — and prints her banner using just two fat quarters. These make beautiful, personalized gifts for any time of the year (just change the message text based on the occasion) and are a great way to add a hand made touch to your home dec. Emma uses Eco Canvas in this tutorial, but any of our woven fabrics would work just fine. Follow along with our video tutorial below to learn how! (Note: Our Eco Canvas has been retired, but you can still make this project with our Recycled Canvas!)

About Our Guest Author
Hi! I’m Emma, and as well as working on the Fiskars Design Team, I blog over at hellobeautifulblog.blogspot.com.
I’m an obsessive sewer, often leaping into projects with more enthusiasm than talent, more bravado than skill and more good luck than anything else. This technique has worked well for me so far and more often than not, I make things I love, even if they’re not absolutely perfect. And though I’m no expert, I have a passion for fabric, color and design. I know what I like and what I like makes me smile.
Your blog is so informative.. i wanna know which type of fabric is use for it?
Glad to hear it, Solaima!
The Eco Canvas that Emma used in this post has been retired, but you can still make this project with Recycled Canvas!

Sadly PicMonkey is no longer free, so sad, I used to use it for all of my stuff and I am having a hard time finding another photo editing tool that is free and easy to use 🙁
Hi Mara,
You can access a free version of PicMonkey on our design page here.
Very cute! What size hoop did you use? How big did you make your wreath circumference? What was your seam allowances? What is a pillowcase seam? I love the clean look of your Blog! Thank you for sharing your project.
Great questions, Coby! Smaller embroidery hoops between 4″ – 8″ or so would work, you’ll want to move your project around on the hoop depending on which section you’re working on. You can make the wreath circumference any size you like, Emma’s is about 15″. The standard seam allowance is usually about a quarter of an inch. A pillowcase seam means that you are sewing the right sides together and turn the project inside out, then top stitch.
