(<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note: If you\u2019d like your pockets to be made with a contrasting fabric, try using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spoonflower.com\/fill-a-yard\">Fill-a-Yard!<\/a> The vertical split yard is perfect for this project.)<\/span><\/i>\n<ul>\n<li>Don&#8217;t have time to create a custom turkey handprint fabric? Order yours <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spoonflower.com\/fabric\/6907427-thanksgiving-turkey-hand-print-by-spoonflower\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 1\/2 yards of coordinating twill tape, ribbon or cotton webbing &#8211; material should be approximately 1&#8243; wide<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Spoonflower-Adjustable-Apron-Pattern.pdf\">Spoonflower &#8211; Adjustable Apron Pattern<\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sewing machine or serger<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scissors<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thread to match your fabric and tie material<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Straight pins &amp; a safety pin<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Measuring tape <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chalk or fabric marker<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Iron<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now we&#8217;re ready to get started!<\/p>\n<h3><b>Step 1. Print, assemble and cut out your pattern and fabric pieces.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25416 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-AssembleCutPattern.jpg\" alt=\"Assembling and cutting the paper pattern | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"5295\" height=\"1562\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Print, assemble, and cut out your pattern pieces\u2014you should have one apron body piece and one pocket piece. Iron your fabric print side down, and cut out your fabric using the pattern pieces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25418 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-CuttingOutFabric-1.png\" alt=\"Cutting out fabric | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"2848\" height=\"1592\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the wrong side of your fabric facing up, fold one edge of your fabric into the center of the yard. Line up your apron body piece along the fold, and cut around it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25419 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-CutOutPieces.png\" alt=\"Cut out apron pieces - body piece and two pocket pieces | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"2842\" height=\"1590\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cut out two pocket pieces from the remainder of your yard.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Step 2. Hem the apron body.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25420 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-HemmingBody.jpg\" alt=\"Folding over, hemming, and sewing the apron body | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"5760\" height=\"1582\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Press and fold the top 1\/4\u201d edge of the apron toward the wrong side, then press and fold inward another 1\/2&#8243;. Pin and top stitch to finish.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25421 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-AllSidesHemmed.png\" alt=\"Apron sides hemmed! | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"2836\" height=\"1560\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repeat this process with the sides and bottom edge.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Step 3. Create the casing for your apron ties.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25422 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-ZigZagStitchingCasing.png\" alt=\"Zig zag stitching the apron casing | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"2852\" height=\"1578\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Press sides inward toward the wrong side of the fabric about \u00bc\u201d, and and serge or zigzag stitch along the two diagonal edges. (<i>This step is optional, but will help to prevent fraying in your apron tie casing).<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25429 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-ApronCasingMeasurement.png\" alt=\"Making a 2 1\/4&quot; fold | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"2230\" height=\"1258\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Measure 2 1\/2&#8243; from each diagonal edge, fold the edges over to meet that measurement, then press and pin in place. Stitch along the edges with a 1\/4&#8243; seam to create 1&#8243; casings for your apron tie. Be sure the bottom openings of your casings line up across the width of the apron.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Step 4. Assemble and attach the pocket.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25534 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-PinningPocketPiecesTogether.jpg\" alt=\"Pinning and sewing pocket pieces together | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"1300\" height=\"404\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Pin the two pocket pieces together, right sides facing. Sew around the edges with a <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00bd\u201d<\/span> seam, leaving a small opening along the top edge.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25537 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-SewingOpeningClosed2.png\" alt=\"Sew the apron pocket closed | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"2824\" height=\"1582\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Turn the pocket right side out; pin and sew along the length of the top edge to close it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25536 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-PinningPockettoApron.png\" alt=\"Pinning the pocket to our apron and attaching | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"2830\" height=\"1580\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Pin the pocket piece to the apron in line with the base of the casing. Sew around the sides and bottom of the pocket to secure it to your apron, being careful not to catch the casing in your stitches.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25538 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-AddingFrontPocket.png\" alt=\"Sewing pocket to front of apron | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"2850\" height=\"1558\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once attached, mark or draw a line down the pocket about 8&#8243; from either edge. Sew a line from top to bottom to create a divide in the pocket. (<i>This part is totally customizable &#8211; you can add as many or as few divides in your pocket as you\u2019d like!)<\/i><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25533 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-FinishingEndsofApron.png\" alt=\"Finishing the ends of your apron tie | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"2824\" height=\"1574\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fold over the ends of your ties and finish as desired.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25532 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spoonflower.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Spoonflower-AdjustableApron-PullingTieOut.jpg\" alt=\"Inserting safety pin through tie, feeding it through casing, and pulling it out! | Spoonflower Blog\" width=\"1300\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attach a safety pin to one side of the apron tie. Feed it through the casing starting at the waist, out the top, down into the other side of the neckline, and out the other side of the waist. This will create an adjustable neck strap and the waist ties.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And that&#8217;s all there is to it! Now get cookin\u2019 in your brand new apron.
