Announcing the Fabric8 Finalists

We're very excited today to announce the Fabric8 finalists, eight talented designers whose designs won the most votes to go on to the final round of our competition. Each of the eight finalists will develop an additional three designs to form a collection for the final round. Voting on the finalists' collections will begin June 6, 2013, and the winner will be offered a contract to design fabric for Robert Kaufman Fabrics. Congrats to the final 8 and to all the semi-finalists!

We're not planning to post vote totals for the semi-final round, but we will post the rankings. All of the fabrics in this round received lots of votes, so the competition was fierce. All of the designers deserve a round of thanks and congratulations, as do the many, many talented designers who entered and were not selected for the semi-final round. Well done!

At long last we're down to the final round of Project Selvage, the competition to find the next licensed fabric designer for Michael Miller Fabrics.

Ten talented finalists have each created a six-fabric collection for baby boys and now it's up to you to choose the winner. This week you get only one vote!

A single designer will be offered a contract from Michael Miller, a $1000 advance against royalties, and a trip to the fall Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. We'll announce the results of the voting in our email on May 5th.

Announcing the Project Selvage finalists! Now let the real work begin…

From a pool of 75 terrific semi-finalist designs selected by judges, the peeps have spoken and we're now down to the top ten in the competition to choose the next great designer for Michael Miller Fabrics. Nearly 9,000 people voted in the semi-final round.

All of the top ten designers will be asked to do some serious work over the next two and a half weeks before voting in the final round opens on April 28th. Each finalist has to create five additional designs for a collection built around the winning design. The final round will be our first contest in which voters will be asked to select collections rather than individual designs. It will also be the first Spoonflower contest in quite while in which voters will only get a single vote to cast!

Only one designer will end up the winner, but all ten finalists will receive $100 in Spoondollars as well as 10 yards of the Michael Miller fabric of her choice. It is our great pleasure to announce that the finalists are (in no particular order):

Thank you to all the semi-finalists, who submitted some amazing work! This is the first time we've ever run a contest with a juried qualifying round and with such a large number of submitted designs. If we do it again next year we'll almost certainly makes some changes to the way we set up the pre-qualifying round. As with everything we've done since the launch of our little start-up three years ago, our goal is to improve as we go along. I hope you're still enjoying our journey as much as we are. Thank you again to all the supremely talented members of the community who participated.
