When
we proposed an earth science-themed fabric design contest, none of us
were sure what sort of designs would trickle in. But one of the best
things about our more obscure themes is getting a chance to see the
different approaches adopted by different designers. The winner this
week actually introduced us to a new term, stratigraphy (which
we will leave you to Google on your own). Believe it or not, the creator
of the winning fabric turns out to be an archaeologist as well as a
fabric designer. Congratulations to Erica Pitcairn!
