Can we taco ’bout the colorful entries that found their way into this week’s Tacos and Burritos Design Challenge? Did you know that tea towels originated in 18th-century England? We’re celebrating this classic kitchen accessory–and Marketplace favorite–with a Spoonflower tradition: tea towel design challenges! For five weeks, we’re challenging you to design a tea towel that you’d proudly put on display in your kitchen, gift to a friend or use to kick off the new year. Our friends at Roostery are helping us celebrate this Spoonflower tradition with the Special Edition Spoonflower Tea Towel.

After seeing katerhees design, Surprise Party!, we weren’t surprised that Kate’s design was voted into the winners’ circle and took home the grand-prize, a $200 Spoonflower credit. Announcing August’s Design Challenge Themes

This August we’re stopping for a quick bite to eat and then stepping back in time for our weekly design challenges. To sweeten our design challenge prizes, August will be the first month the top 50 (previously top 25) designs will automatically be made available for sale in the Marketplace! Don’t forget to verify your Spoonflower account so your designs are ready to go if you find yourself in the winner’s circle.

Tacos and Burritos | Results Announced August 9

Are you team taco, team burrito or team I’ll eat it all? This week we’re giving the designer community something to taco ‘bout with a challenge inspired by two iconic Mexican meals. As you’re designing a repeating pattern, think of the toppings you’d add to your taco, the fillings that would make your burrito burst at the seams or the location where you’d devour your dinner. Entries will be previewed at the fat quarter size: 21” x 18”. Submissions close July 31 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins August 2. See official rules.

Announcing the Princess Awesome Design Challenge Winners

For this week’s Princess Awesome Design Challenge, we’re celebrating all the amazing things girls love, from dinosaurs to sparkles, STEM to twirling, adventure to dress-up. Need another reason to party? This is the third design challenge in a row to have a first-time winner! 🎉 We’re more than excited to announce grand prize title-holder littleknids, who will be receiving a $200 Spoonflower credit for her inventive design, Deep She Exploration White. Larrea (of littleknids) will also receive a $500 cash prize from Princess Awesome for winning this exclusive competition. But wait! Announcing the Bauhaus Movement Design Challenge Winners

Bauhaus Circles by dessineo is the Bauhaus Movement design challenge winner!

From 1919 to 1933, the Bauhaus School was the epicenter of architecture, art and design, and this week, the Marketplace became the epicenter for designs inspired by the “most influential school of all time”. Clean geometric shapes, bold typography and striking colors, took center stage during the Bauhaus Movement challenge and we’re putting our hands together for FIRST-TIME winner, dessineo. Julia’s bright and bold design, Bauhaus Circles, earned her the top spot in the winners’ circle and a $200 Spoonflower credit. Introducing the Princess Awesome Design Challenge

In 2013, Princess Awesome co-founders Rebecca Melsky and Eva St. Clair couldn’t find an awesome dinosaur print to make into a girl’s twirly dress. They didn’t want a print that looked like it belonged on boys’ sheets, and they didn’t just want to turn all the dinosaurs pink and put pearls on them. They wanted a print that was vibrant, clever, cute, and fun – so they turned to Spoonflower, and the rest is history.
