From answering customer questions to writing resourceful documentation and helping turn ideas into projects, Spoonflower’s Customer Service team works largely behind the scenes. As this crew is also full of people with their own creative talent, we’re turning the tables and letting a few Customer Service teammates Whitney, Kris, Kadie and Kelley share a bit about themselves!

Two images have been placed side by side into one rectangle. On the left, Kadie holds up a white, brown and yellow quilt with a star motif. In some places, the yellow bleeds a bit into orange. Kadie’s feet are visible at the bottom of the photo and they are wearing black-and-white shoes. They are standing in a patch of green grass with some large brown leaves and in front of a brown wooden gate. On the right, a red brick fireplace has two gray stockings covered in colorful baubles hanging from a dark brown mantel on its lefthand side. Above the fireplace is a large rectangular mirror. Leaning against the mirror are two pieces of Spoonflower fabric in black frames. The back frame shares a design with a teal background and gold stars. The front frame is of a Christmas tree in dark blue, with colorful ornaments hanging all over its branches.

What do you like most about being on the Customer Service team?
The Spoonflower Customer Service team is the most welcoming, encouraging and thoughtful group of individuals. Being able to be a part of a team and company that loves their people, creative entrepreneurs, makers and shakers is everything I have ever wanted. Every day it is so apparent that taking care of customers is our team’s number one priority.

Who’s your favorite Spoonflower artist and why do you like their work?
This might be the hardest question I have ever had to answer! Wow. There are so many amazing artists within the Spoonflower Marketplace. I would have to say, currently, my favorite artist is holli_zollinger

What’s your go-to Spoonflower product and why does it make the top of your list?
Okay, I have to admit, I am a terrible sewist. I have tried, I really have! So, for me, the best products are the already complete items like pillows! I love pillows, so having an unlimited supply of amazing designs is wonderful when it comes decorating my home. Another one of my favorite ways to use Spoonflower products is by ordering fabric pieces and turning them into wall art. I take cool frames and change out the fabric to match holidays, occasions or my decor!

Two disco balls sit at the top of an image with several different designs on notecards stickers and paper below. A sticker that says “It’s ok” sits on top of a notepad with colorful round jewel tone dots around the edge. Stickers that say “read my lips” and “self love” are peppered in with a to-do notepad with geometric ombre blobs, a rainbow notecard.

What do you like to do in your free time? (work on your small business, do a craft, etc.)
In my free time I love working on my own small business, Whimsy Words. We create greeting cards, stationery, stickers and personalized paper products for customers. It is packed full of pink, fun and whimsy! I am also a HUGE crafter, from updating furniture to making jewelry and baking—I love using my hands to create anything that will bring joy to others.

“When it comes to ordering wallpaper to cover a whole room or a large amount of yardage for a quilt, you want to be sure you love what you order.” – Whitney Gray on the importance of ordering samples

What’s the #1 tip you think every Spoonflower customer should know?
When in doubt, order a sample! So many of us like instant gratification these days, trust me I get it. I love that Spoonflower offers the option to order a sample of any of our designs on various substrates. This gives you the ability to actually see a tangible product and know before investing. Plus, I love having samples to take with me when I go shopping to match decor or paint.

[The Customer Service team is] here to help!

What do you like most about being on the Customer Service team?
I truly enjoy working with such a passionate and collaborative group of people! If you spend one day with our team, you’ll see us all bouncing ideas off of each other, coming up with solutions and truly linking (well, at least proverbially, as we work from home) arms!

Who’s your favorite Spoonflower artist?
Wow, there are so many in my favorites but holli_zollinger is always a win in my book. She offers quite the fun mix between classic, whimsical, geometric and boho—she has a design for every mood!

What’s your go-to Spoonflower product and why?
My go-to is our square throw pillows. They’re a fun and quick way to change the vibe of a room

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I’m usually dreaming about my next cup of coffee (you think I’m kidding, but I’m being so serious), taking a walk with my husband and our sweet 12-year-old rescue pup, having dinner dates with friends or aspiring to be as crafty as my amazing colleagues!

“We come to work every day with the common goal of helping our customers however we can. If we don’t know the answer, we will find it for you.” – Kris Bright

What’s the #1 tip you think every Spoonflower customer should know?
We are here to help! We come to work every day with the common goal of helping our customers however we can. If we don’t know the answer, we will find it for you. If we think there’s an improvement to be made somewhere, we’re talking about what it will take to make that a reality. We really love what we do and we hope that whenever a customer walks away from an interaction with us, they can feel it.

#1 Spoonflower customer tip:
It’s easier to create something than you think!

What do you like most about being on the Customer Service team?
I love helping people with so many different creative projects using Spoonflower designs. It’s a pretty unique experience helping customers bring their ideas to life! I also like seeing and hearing how customers use our products. For example, a customer shared recently that they order tea towel calendars for every new year to carry on a family tradition from their mom. It was definitely cool to hear how Spoonflower products play a part in such a nice tradition.

Who’s your favorite Spoonflower artist?
It’s definitely hard to choose just one! Lately, I’ve been adding a lot of designs by amy_maccready to my favorites. I love her unique color combinations, and with her floral designs in particular, the way all the various elements flow together.

What’s your go-to Spoonflower product and why?
One of my go-to fabrics when it comes to apparel is our Organic Cotton Sateen. Every time I’ve used it, the colors and print quality have come out so bold, and the fabric itself is soft and easy to work with. One of my favorite projects I’ve made with it is a Kalle Shirt from Closet Core Patterns.

A purple dress on a hanger hangs from a door knob on a cream door. The repeating design of the print has small hand-drawn dark flowers.
A design created on Procreate by Kelley’s niece Brinley, which she then had printed onto Modern Jersey, and sewn into a custom dress for her birthday.

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, you’ll definitely find me crafting in some way. I love to sew, make vinyl or paper crafts with my Cricut, work on a paint-by-number painting or possibly bake something. I’ve also been inspired by so many Spoonflower artists to try out using Procreate on my iPad. I’ve been working on learning the ins and outs of the app to make some digital art.

“I’m sure some people may find it daunting to go through the process of having a design or photo printed, but I’ve found that customers are often surprised to hear how easy it actually is.” – Kelley O’Byrne

What’s the #1 tip you think every Spoonflower customer should know?
It’s easier to create something than you think! If anyone has questions or needs extra clarification, Customer Service is always happy to help! Our Spoonflower Help Center offers a lot of articles, blog posts and other tools that will help with every step of the process.

Swatching is the way to go!

What do you like most about being on the Customer Service team?
I love working with such a creative group of people!

Who’s your favorite Spoonflower artist?
This is a difficult question!! One of my favorites is bruxamagica—Susana’s designs are so colorful and mesmerizing.

Kadie holds up a white, brown and yellow quilt with a star motif. In some places, the yellow bleeds a bit into orange. Kadie’s feet are visible at the bottom of the photo and they are wearing black-and-white shoes. They are standing in a patch of green grass with some large brown leaves and in front of a brown wooden gate.
Kadie holds a quilt they made. The mustard fabric was overdyed using MX dyes to create the yellow-to-orange look.

What’s your go-to Spoonflower product and why?
Lately I’ve been using Petal Signature Cotton Solids in my quilting and it’s been a bit of a game changer for me! I really like the hand of the fabric, and the color options make it easy to find coordinating fabrics to supplement ones I already have on hand. (Note: Our Petal Signature Cotton Solids sunset in June 2023. However, there are plenty of solid designs available on the Spoonflower Marketplace that will work just as well!)

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I am either in my art studio, at roller derby practice or cozying up with my dogs Astro and Stella.

“Whether it’s fabric or wallpaper you’re considering, it’s best to start with a swatch so you can preview the design.” – Kadie Nugent

What’s the #1 tip you think every Spoonflower customer should know?
Swatching is the way to go! There’s just nothing like seeing the design in person to make sure it’s the right fit for your project or space.
