Announcing November 2022 Design Challenge Themes

Spoonflower’s Weekly Design Challenges encourage creativity by inviting our community to submit designs around a theme and vote on favorites to win weekly prizes. See what design challenges are coming up and which designers were crowned grand-champion in past challenges here.

This week, your pets step in as inspiration as you design their dream home. “Barkitecture,” decorating spaces specifically for our animal companions in mind, is a rising trend we’re howling for. Imagine a luxury cat lounge with comfy little beds and blankets galore or a puppy playroom with fun colors and motifs when creating your design.

Entries will be previewed on a 21” x 18” fat quarter. Submissions close October 25 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins October 27. Winners will be announced November 3. See official rules.

Can’t decide on a tattoo to get? Just design your own! This week, harness your inner tattoo artist and create a variety of body art designs displayed together cohesively on one “flash sheet.” Keep it simple with hearts, flowers, skulls, script or other commonly-inked images, or get creative and develop a brand-new theme your future tattoo clients would go nuts for.

Entries will be previewed on a 21” x 18” fat quarter. Submissions close November 1 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins November 3. Winners will be announced November 10. See official rules.

Take a trip with us back in time to rediscover the glamour of the 1920s! The luxurious lines of Art Deco, geometric shapes of Bauhaus and general opulence of the Roaring Twenties are your inspiration for this challenge. Reimagine the distinctive design of the 1920s into large scale patterns that look great on wallpaper for today.

Entries will be previewed on a roll of wallpaper. Submissions close November 8 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins November 10. Winners will be announced November 17. See official rules.

It’s time to shrink your favorite foods down to bite size! Inspired by our recent celebration of National Cooking Day, we think it’s time to restock the Spoonflower Marketplace with a fresh batch of delicious ditsy designs perfect for small projects. We can’t wait to see these mini versions of your favorite foods.

This is a ditsy challenge, which means the elements in your design need to be tiny—make sure they are set to scale before entering! Check out this blog post for more information about ditsy designs.

Entries will be previewed on an 8″ x 8″ swatch. Submissions close November 15 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins November 17. Winners will be announced December 1. See official rules.

One Grand Prize Winner each week will receive $200 in Spoondollars. The winner will also receive additional exposure in our email newsletters and social media mentions.

The 2nd place winner will receive $100 in Spoondollars.

The 3rd place winner will receive $50 in Spoondollars.

4th through 10th place winners will receive a $20 Spoondollar credit.

Each of the top 50 entries, determined as set forth above, not receiving one of the foregoing prizes will be automatically proofed for sale in the Spoonflower Marketplace (approximately a $5 value) (the “Runner Up Prize”) if winners are verified sellers.
