Kidult | Entries due by June 28, 2022

Kidult /ki-duhlt/ (noun): a self-described kid at heart.

This week, we’re giving you the perfect excuse to embrace your inner child. Think back to the activities and themes that brought you joy as a kid and bring them to life in your design. Get back to the basics by using children’s art supplies or utilize modern techniques to elevate your memories.

Entries will be previewed on a 21” x 18” fat quarter. Submissions close June 28 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins June 30. Winners will be announced June 7. See official rules.

Monochrome Moments | Entries due by July 5, 2022

Monochrome design is all about utilizing tints, shades, and tones of a single color.

First, let’s dive into a color theory refresher… a tint is a lighter version of a color (base color + white), a shade is a darker version of a color (base color + black), and a tone refers to the saturation (base color + gray). Test your design skills in this challenge by using tints, shades and tones of your chosen base color to create a monochromatic design.

How will you use shape and texture to create interest while being limited to just one color?

Entries will be previewed on a 21” x 18” fat quarter. Submissions close July 5 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins July 7. Winners will be announced July 14. See official rules.

Cheerful Checks | Entries due by July 12, 2022

Check patterns can be found everywhere, from vintage kitchen floors to picnic blankets to recent fashion trends.

These crisscrossed patterns give any space a bold and lively lift, especially when contrasting colors are included. Checks look great on rugs, towels, quilts, pillows—you name it. This week the rule is simple: include checkered elements in your design. We can’t wait to check it out!

Entries will be previewed on a 21” x 18” fat quarter. Submissions close July 12 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins July 14. Winners will be announced July 21. See official rules.
