Announcing April's Design Challenge Themes

Spoonflower’s Weekly Design Challenges encourage creativity by inviting our community to submit designs around a theme and vote on favorites to win weekly prizes. See what design challenges are coming up and which designers were crowned grand-champion in past challenges here.

Spoonflower X LainSnow: Floral Wilderness | Entries due by March 29, 2022

LainSnow is a woman-owned swimwear brand based in Coastal, NC. For their Fall ‘22 collection, LainSnow is looking to the Spoonflower artist community to create a small-scale boho-influenced floral print in a palette of sage green, yellows and coffee browns.

One Grand Prize Winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize from LainSnow, which will also serve as the licensing fee to be featured on swimwear as part of their Fall 2022 collection. Winner will also receive $200 in Spoonflower credit. Second through tenth place winners will also receive $100 in LainSnow credit, along with our typical Spoonflower prizes. The grand prize winner will be selected by LainSnow out of the top 10, but the second – tenth place winners will be popularly-voted.

Entries will be previewed on a fat quarter. Submissions close March 29 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins March 31. Winners will be announced April 7. See official rules.

Garden Party | Entries due by April 5, 2022 

Grab a big picnic blanket, some comfort food and your best friends– we’re hosting a garden party! Spring has sprung in our side of the world and we’ve missed its floral aromas and warm rays of sun.

This week, showcase the beauty of spring but with a little party pizzaz! What would your design look like featured on a picnic tablecloth or a set of patio pillows displayed for guests to talk about and remember? Gather together in a fun way your favorite elements of spring, from budding plants and tweeting birds to good vibes and fresh perspectives.

Entries will be previewed on a 21” x 18” fat quarter. Submissions close April 5 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins April 7. Winners will be announced April 14. See official rules.

Petal Coordinates Limited Color Palette: In Bloom | Entries due by April 12, 2022 

Petal Signature Cotton® Solids is our collection of 100% cotton solid fabrics that make it easier than ever for makers to color coordinate their favorite Spoonflower designs. This week, create a design that utilizes the colors Coral, Grass and Peony to use alongside the Petal Solids fabrics.

Our Research & Development team worked hard to identify RGB hex codes you can use that perfectly match our Petal Signature Cotton Solids: Coral (#EC5E57), Grass (#44BF58) and Peony (#BF6493). Imagine this bright, blooming palette in used in bedding set or a pillow collection when coming up with your design.

An Important Note About Your Design Challenge Entry

Artists must use 1, 2 or all 3 colors from the provided Petal Solids hex codes colors Coral (#EC5E57), Grass (#44BF58) and Peony (#BF6493). Additional colors are ok to use, but we recommend keeping it simple with no more than 4 colors total (not including black and white) to ensure your design coordinates well with the solids.

Teamwork | Entries due by April 19, 2022

To celebrate the people behind the products and processes that make our world go-round both here at Spoonflower and across the world at-large, this week’s chosen theme is teamwork! This can be interpreted any way you like – from beavers building a dam to honeybees buzzing around their hive to make honey, or a merry-band of printers working together to make fabric, wallpaper and home decor come to life.

Entries will be previewed on a fat quarter. Submissions close April 19 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins April 21. Winners will be announced April 28. See official rules.

Grand Prize

One Grand Prize Winner each week will receive $200 in Spoondollars. The winner will also receive additional exposure in our email newsletters and social media mentions.

Second Place

The 2nd place winner will receive $100 in Spoondollars.

Third Place

The 3rd place winner will receive $50 in Spoondollars.

The rest of the top 10

4th through 10th place winners will receive a $20 Spoondollar credit.

Each of the top 50 entries, determined as set forth above, not receiving one of the foregoing prizes will be automatically proofed for sale in the Spoonflower Marketplace (approximately a $5 value) (the “Runner Up Prize”) if winners are verified sellers.
