International Women’s Day Wall Hangings | Entries due by February 22, 2022

At Spoonflower, every day may as well be International Women’s Day! We’re proud to support a majority-female community of artists and are taking time to celebrate that with a special design challenge just for International Women’s Day.

This year’s official theme is #BreakTheBias, so feel free to let that message inspire you as you come up with a typographical or illustrative wall hanging design that empowers women and challenges the bias of what it means to be female in today’s world.

Entries will be previewed on a wall hanging. Submissions close February 22 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins February 24. Winners will be announced March 3. See official rules.

Neutral Botanicals Grasscloth | Entries due by March 1, 2022

Our new Grasscloth wallpaper has a natural feel and provides a touch of elegance to any room— perfect to display a wall full of neutral-toned botanicals.

For your design, explore shades of white, creme, green or tan– anything natural-toned that is visually calm or soft to the eye. Imagine your creation transformed into our new Grasscloth wallpaper, hung to match muted-colored centerpieces or used as a subtle pop of natural beauty.

Entries will be previewed on a roll of wallpaper. Submissions close March 1 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins March 3. Winners will be announced March 10. See official rules.

Petal Coordinates Limited Color Palette – Candy: Cotton Candy, Lilac, Seaglass | Entries due by March 8, 2022

Petal Signature Cotton Solids are 100% cotton solid dyed fabrics that make it easier than ever for makers to coordinate with their favorite Spoonflower designs. This week, create a design that utilizes the colors Cotton Candy, Lilac and Seaglass to use alongside the Petal Solids fabrics.

Our Research & Development team worked hard to identify RGB hex codes you can use that perfectly match our Petal Signature Cotton Solids: Cotton Candy (#F1D2D6), Lilac (#A6A3DE) and Seaglass (#CDE1DD). Imagine this pastel palette in projects like bedding or a pillow collection when coming up with your design.

An Important Note About Your Design Challenge Entry

Artists must use 1, 2 or all 3 colors from the provided Petal Solids hex codes colors Cotton Candy (#F1D2D6), Lilac (#A6A3DE) and Seaglass (#CDE1DD). Additional colors are ok to use, but we recommend keeping it simple with no more than 4 colors total (not including black and white) to ensure your design coordinates well with the solids.

Entries will be previewed on fat quarter. Submissions close March 8 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins March 10. Winners will be announced March 17. See official rules.

In the Weeds | Entries due by March 15, 2022

This week, we’re stepping back from traditional florals to make room for the weeds! These fast-growing “unwanted” plants have their own beauty we want to recognize.

From crabgrass to dandelions, weeds can survive in diverse environments and reproduce very quickly, leading to their reputation as plants that “grow in the wrong place.” However, they still cultivate life, stabilize the soil and attract pollinators.

Create a design featuring weeds in some way, whether it be quackgrass poking out the cracks of a sidewalk, a wall of English ivy or even a whole field of clovers. We can’t wait to see what you grow!

Entries will be previewed on a fat quarter. Submissions close March 15 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins March 17.  Winners will be announced March 24.  See official rules.

Maximalist Folk | Entries due by March 22, 2022

Deeply rooted in Scandinavian influence, the maximalist folk design trend is all about an abundance of color, print, and pattern that celebrates the natural world.

Everything from intricately-drawn leaves to fruit, birds, and flowers—it’s all about bringing a touch of nature indoors, especially on walls. Be sure to design with wallpaper in mind as voting previews will be displayed on a roll of wallpaper.

Entries will be previewed on a roll of wallpaper. Submissions close March 22 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins March 24. Winners will be announced March 31. See official rules.
