Featuring free original artwork from 5 Spoonflower artists
From virtual baby showers to birthday parties, jazzing up our virtual meeting backgrounds to match the occasion has become our new go-to way to get festive. While it’s now safer for some to gather, we know that virtual meetings will remain a huge part of our day-to-day lives as many of us continue to work, learn and connect with loved ones from farther afield. For Pride month this year, we asked a handful of artists in our community to create custom backgrounds for you to download (for free!).
And while we’ve included directions for adding these images to Zoom below, they can be added to most meeting platforms as virtual backgrounds. Show your support and celebrate Pride all month long by using these designs as backgrounds in your online meetings or as your mobile device homescreen!
All of the designs you see below can be downloaded directly from this post (right click the image, then select “Save Image As” to save the image to your device) to be used as a background for your phone home screen or a virtual meeting. Want ‘em on wallpaper, fabric or home decor? Each of these designs is also available in each artist’s Spoonflower shop, so you can sew with them too! Pride-themed pet bandanas, anyone?
“I wanted to create a design with many brushstrokes where colors were the most important element. The original idea was to paint brushstrokes together with different colors and shapes. I wanted to express that each person is like a color brushstroke, we are all different from each other, but when we love and show one another respect—life, society and everything can be better, stronger and, of course, more beautiful.
I don’t have any doubt that the most important thing in my life is LOVE. Not only can you love people, although it is the most common, I’m also loving art and nature. For me, Pride month is a celebration of love. It doesn’t matter who you love, we are all people with the same rights and we need to love and feel loved. Love in any way is the most beautiful thing in the world. I am going to support this day being as happy as possible and being true to myself, loving without fear and fighting for human rights.”
“I created my Pride flags design because I wanted to combine my love of representation and take inspiration from colourful geometric African wax print fabrics. As a gay designer, Pride is so important to me. I like to create patterns that both celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and are pleasing to the eye.
Pride month is so special to me, and businesses supporting pride and representation of the LGBTQ+ community is so important to create a better, kinder, more accepting and loving society.”
“With this design I wanted to create something that was both hard and soft at the same time, combining the spontaneity of rainbow watercolour paint with the starkness of white geometric lines, overall creating a shimmering mosaic effect.
Pride for me is about celebrating the beautiful shimmering mosaic of queer folk we have in our community. All coming together as one to celebrate our complexities, our strength, and our joy at discovering and sharing who we truly are.”
“I created this design to honor the memory of a very dear friend. LOVE is a miracle, no matter what form it takes, and the world needs so much more of it.”
“At my Etsy shop Pride Kitty, I’m everyone’s Fairy Gaymother. I love meeting queer people of all stripes, and giving them sincere mom hugs whenever possible. I regularly attend Pride Fests and anime conventions, where I can meet all of the amazing people in the LGBTQIA+ universe.
I am in awe of how supportive the community is of each other, especially the younger generations—everything is possible!”
