“Petal’s colour-fastness surprised me – I pre-washed the fabric and there was no colour difference at all between the unwashed and washed fabric. Petal Signature Cotton has a stable and sturdy hand, which made it easier to sew the skinny strips in this pattern.” – Andrea Tsang Jackson of 3rd Story Workshop

“Petal is a FABULOUS replacement that really checks a lot of boxes for me! The colors are vivid and clear and the weight is perfect for stitching. I also really love the weight of the cotton, it feels sturdy, yet is super soft once it’s stitched up.” – Brittany Lloyd of Lo & Behold Stitchery

“New Spoonflower Petal Cotton is amazing. It has everything one needs in a cotton fabric. Lightweight, yet tight weave. The color pops rather than fades into the fabric to look dull like the Basic and Kona did. It sews like a dream with very little fray. Washes great and loses almost no dyes (cold wash-gentle and low-med dryer). Virtually no lint shed and as you can see almost no wrinkling. I used to avoid the Kona and Basic fabrics except for the test proofing of my designs. Now I can use Petal for my sewing and quilting and my projects just got a little less expensive!” – @katrineannetteeagling

“When the fabric arrived I was so impressed with the color vibrancy but SO concerned about how stiff they were! I was for real panicky for a hot minute! ???????????? I had never used Spoonflower before so I wasn’t totally sure what to expect. I knew that Spoonflower digitally prints onto the fabric so I figured maybe it had something to do with that process. I pre-washed it (which I usually never do!) just to be safe and it ????DID???? soften up some on the first wash and press (but it REALLY softened up over the time I worked with it… so by the time it’s quilted up it felt no different than most of my other quilts)!” – Evie Jeserpsen of EVQuilts

I absolutely love petal cotton signature for quilting. The colours come out well and I agree that the material is very crisp when you first receive it but this is great for both cutting and sewing, the firmness helps you stay straight with cutting, reduces fraying and laying pieces together for sewing is neat. Once made and ironed it softens, and softens further with washing but doesn’t lose it’s colour fastedness. Highly recommend this fabric for quilting.
Impressive!
