Cozy Reading | Entries Due by October 27

Cozy Reading - November's Design Challenge Themes | Spoonflower Blog

The more time we spend in front of screens, the more we crave snuggling up with a cozy paper book and leaning hard into hygge. Gear up for winter hibernation reads (or beach reads in the Southern Hemisphere!) with a design that celebrates all the warm and cozy vibes we love about reading. Feel free to incorporate blankets, tea, and any other design elements that will set the mood for literary leisure. Journals, newspapers, and magazines welcome, too!

Entries will be previewed on a 21″ x 18″ fat quarter. Submissions close October 27 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins October 29. Winners will be announced November 5. See official rules.

Snail Mail | Entries Due by November 3

Snail Mail - November's Design Challenge Themes | Spoonflower Blog

Did you know that the very first letter was sent in 1633? Since then, good old-fashioned snail mail has become our most beloved way to show we’re thinking about someone. So slow down and take your time creating something as special as a handwritten letter in our Snail Mail challenge! In celebration of Letter Writing Day on December 7 in the US, we’re challenging you to conjure up motifs featuring your finest stationery, pens, stamps, and other postal accoutrement to create a surface design that really delivers!

Entries featuring mail service logos will be disqualified and returned to sender.

Entries will be previewed on a 21″ x 18″ fat quarter. Submissions close November 3 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins November 5. Winners will be announced November 12. See official rules.

Game Night | Entries Due by November 10

Game Night - November's Design Challenge Themes | Spoonflower Blog

Roll the dice, advance your pawn, and play your best hand for the Game Night Design Challenge! Perhaps your dining room table has been seeing more family domino tournaments and puzzle construction than dinner parties lately. Maybe you’ve recently rediscovered the joys of a simple game of chess, backgammon or checkers. This week we challenge you to highlight elements from the classic tabletop games that bring folks together in the spirit of friendly competition.

Remember to focus on the unique shapes and colors of the pieces and keep it generic – avoid any imagery that is someone else’s intellectual property like characters and objects from branded games such as the recognizable tokens from Monopoly. Entries with elements like these will be disqualified (do not pass go, do not collect $200).

Entries will be previewed on a 21″ x 18″ fat quarter. Submissions close November 10 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins November 12. Winners will be announced November 19. See official rules.

In recognition of Thanksgiving, there will be no Design Challenge the week of November 16. Be sure to check back on the blog November 6 to find out the December Design Challenge themes.
