Announcing November’s Design Challenge Themes

OCT 13, 2017

In the midst of holiday shopping making, hosting dinner parties and baking cookies to the point of losing track of how many dozen you’ve made, it’s easy to see why this time of the year can fly by. Escape the busyness of the holidays, even if just for a few hours, during the November design challenge. Whether it’s limited color palettes or larger than life designs, your hardest challenge this month will be remembering to get back to your to-do list!

Limited Color Palette Winter Mod | Results Announced November 2

What do you get when you mix the design and fashion style of the 1960’s with the season of merriment and wonder? Why, the Winter Mod design challenge, of course! Using a bold but limited color palette, channel a winter wonderland using sleek abstract shapes to create a repeating design inspired by the coldest time of the year. Black and white are optional, and you must use at least 2 of the following colors: Platinum (#DFE1E8), Roman Silver (#818A96), Sunglow (#FFCC36), Oxford Blue (#031D44), Cobalt (#092E96). Color variations and colors outside of this palette will not be accepted.  Entries will be previewed at the fat quarter size: 21” x 18”.  Submissions close October 24 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins October 26. See official rules.

Large Scale Fragmentation | Results Announced November 16

This week’s challenge will have you thinking larger than life! In celebration of Roostery’s bedding launch, we’re challenging you to create a large scale fragmentation design that would be the perfect addition to your bedroom decor. From deconstructed pops of color to fragments of dispersed light, bring your artwork to life but remember to think big! Not quite sure how big is too big? We’ve shared some large scale examples from the Spoonflower community below. Entries will be previewed at the yard size: 42″ x 36”. Submissions close November 7  at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Voting begins November 9. See official rules
