Fall is in full swing, designers! November is all about getting your shop ready for the busiest time of the year — the holiday gifting season. With that in mind, we’re challenging you to keep “gift wrap” front and center of your design thought-process as you conjure up your next masterpiece.

Lace Gift Wrap

This year, Spoonflower celebrated its 8 year anniversary as a business empowering individuals to design and print their own fabric and papers. According to modern tradition, the customary “gift” for an 8 year anniversary is linen & lace. Well that got us thinking, what about lace on linen? Or better yet… on gift wrap! Gear up for the holiday season with a lace inspired design that would look great on a roll of gift wrap. Voting will be viewed at the 8″ x 8″ swatch size. Deadline to enter is October 25th, 2016 at 3 PM Eastern Time.

Poinsettia gift tags

Everyone knows the finishing touch to the perfect gift is a thoughtful tag. Let seasonal poinsettias inspire a gift tag design that can be cut out of peel & stick wallpaper swatches, gift wrap or even fabric. Take inspiration from our 2012 “Gift Tag” contest winners. Deadline to enter is November 1st, 2016 at 3 PM Eastern Time.

Alpine Chalet Gift Wrap

It’s time to get cozy après ski in the Alpine Chalet of your dreams. Whether it’s a roaring fire, hot cocoa, or a log cabin deep in the Swiss Alps, conjure up a Chalet scene that will make us want to hang up our snowshoes and stay awhile.Voting will be viewed at the 8″ x 8″ swatch size. Winners will be photographed on gift wrap, so design with this product in mind.  Deadline to enter is November 8th, 2016 at 3 PM Eastern Time.

Each week, one popularly voted grand-prize winner will receive $200 in Spoonflower credit. The rest of the top 10 winners each week will receive $20.00. The top 25 popularly voted designs (provided the designers are already verified sellers) will be automatically made available for sale in the Marketplace where they will receive 10% commission on every sale — no $5.00 swatch required! In addition to cash prizes, the top 10 will receive additional exposure in our email newsletters, professional photography of their printed designs, and social media mentions.

  • The ability for a designer to view the gift wrap box mockup has recently been removed, so designing with gift wrap in mind is now more difficult.

I’m told that we can still view the mockup– AFTER it’s been set for sale, and only in the ‘customer/fabric’ view. And then of course, to change it, we’d have to be working in the ‘designer/design’ view.

It’s unfortunate timing to remove functionality for gift wrap designing just as there are gift wrap contests.

    • Hey there! Thanks very much for your feedback — this functionality has now been fixed so you should be able to see your designs mocked up as a gift box from the design page 🙂
