What’s the perfect no-sew project for cold weather AND tailgating? Double sided fleece blankets. This beginner level project can be made in under 30 minutes using 2 yards of Spoonflower’s Fleece and a pair of scissors. (As of March 2023, we are phasing out our Fleece fabric and launching Polartec® Fleece, which will also work great for this project!) Personalize your blanket to your teams’ colors from our Marketplace featuring thousands of designs or design your own, and get cuddled up this season.
Step 1: Stack 2 yards of fleece, wrong sides facing
Step 2: Trim selvage using a rotary blade and straight edge
Step 3: Cut 1″ x 3″ strips across the short side of the fabrics.
Step 4: With scissors, snip a small hole at the top center of each strip
Step 5: Strip by strip, bring both layers of fabric through from the bottom of the hole. Repeat on the opposite side.
Step 6: Repeat the above steps for the long sides of the blanket.
Step 7: Oh wait… that’s it? The blanket’s done? Dang! That was easy.

I made a gift for my friend who likes purple, using the directions in your post.
Spoonflower fleece has crisp design-details and vibrant color!
See the blanket on my blog page (ten pictures). https://nancyleemoran.com/blog/?p=1142
On my blog page, I added a link back to this Spoonflower tutorial, too.
Hi Peggy,
Thanks for your question! You can find additional no-sew fleece blankets here. I hope that helps, but if you have any more questions don’t hesitate to ask. -Meredith from Spoonflower
This is potentially a stupid question, but what happens to the sides you haven’t cut? Wouldn’t the two pieces of fleece come apart and show the non patterned sides?
Hi K,
No silly questions here! You will want to cut and tie all four sides of the fabric. We apologize for any confusion and we’ve updated this section of the instructions.

Will minky work as well as fleece?
Hi Nancy,
The Minky may fray a little bit overtime so we’d recommend sticking with a fabric that won’t fray at all if you leave the edges raw.
Thank you! I ordered the fleece.
Is the London Calling fleece sold out?
Is the London calling fleece sold Out?
Hi Tessa,
You can find the London Calling design here.
I’ve seen other instructions on u-tube that show to tie the two pieces together, do you have instructions on that?
Also, I’ve seen contradicting instructions on what to do with the corners, can you clarify?

How wide is the fleece, specifically the “London calling” and “black and white” featured in your new catalog on page 15.
Hi Alice,
Spoonflower’s fleece is 56″ wide and you can learn more about it here.
