My day starts with three crazy little boys. I wrangle them and get them to preschool, then come home and scarf down some breakfast. Once breakfast is finished I grab my cup of coffee and head to the computer to answer emails, update listings, and order materials which usually takes about an hour and a half. After that the cutting and sewing begins.
If I had to wear the same thing every day it would be a solid neutral color tee and a comfy pair of skinny jeans.
I fell in love with crafting when I had my first baby and realized there were so many adorable things I could make for him. I picked up my first sewing machine five years ago when he was 4 months old and learned how to sew…or rather had my wonderful husband figure it out and then teach me! I started with making cloth diapers and then gradually expanded into different things.
Who or what influences or inspires your work and why? Anything and everything inspires my work. Whether it is a shirt with a cool design, a random image online, or just nature in the backyard. I try to find inspiration for new designs and products everywhere I go!
When I’m in my studio, I feel inspired and as if I can create anything I set my mind to. Although, if we are going to get real, a lot of times I feel the need to organize and clean before I can get inspired as we all know craft/work rooms can get quite messy and chaotic.
Designs shown here are by Emily Sanford, and Andrea Lauren
My favorite designers include Andrea Lauren, The Little Arrow Design Co, and Shop Cabin.
I’d love to see a design of… (I don’t know how to answer this one because Spoonflower has every imaginable design you could want!)
Arrows Gray by Holli Zollinger
My favorite Spoonflower fabric to work with is Minky. The colors print so bold, they don’t fade, and it is super soft and perfect for the baby items that we create!
Best advice I ever received is to stay true to yourself, be unique, and don’t compare yourself to others.
