Politics may be dividing our nation at the moment, but the USA can firmly stand united behind the color blue as our favorite choice for home décor! Spoonflower crunched the data from nearly 200,000 purchases of custom fabric, wallpaper and gift wrap over a two-year period and organized them under 15 color categories. We then weighed the scores to measure the popularity for each color by city and state. While our flag may be red white and blue, our homes definitely reflect a country of blue, gray and black!
From New Mexico all the way to Washington D.C., blue rang true for 82% of the country
Raining Linen by Holli Zollinger is one of the most popular blue designs for home decor projects in the Spoonflower Marketplace.
Southwest states showed a strong preference for black designs, which could be due to the contemporary modern and graphic design trends popular in these areas.
Based on data from 200,000 purchases.

That’s probably a little unfair on white. Not only would it be a major component of black+white, greyscale and blue+white designs but people are far less likely to buy plain white from Spoonflower than from other shops! Lots of people will have some white goods in their houses, some plain white linen on their beds, white paper cake doilies etc in their kitchens, whitewashed walls or white picket fences. They just don’t get those from Spoonflower.
