We want to wallpaper one wall in the living room.
First Question: the wall has new sheetrock/tape/mud. Should we prime the wall before wallpapering?
Second Question:
Dave wants to use the smooth wallpaper (with water) because that how he wallpapered in the ’70s.
I want to use the woven peel-and-stick wallpaper because I wallpapered using water in the ’70s, too…and I think peel-and-stick would be much easier and less labor-intensive.
Outside of being less expensive, is there a quality or performance reason to spend the additional time and labor using the smooth wallpaper?
We own this house and, once up, the wallpaper will never come down (in our lifetimes, anyway).
P.S. We did not wallpaper together in the ’70s. Had we been, we probably wouldn’t be together now…
