Five Amazing Fabric Designers Enter, But Only One Will Leave…

This week's contest is a battle between giants: the first-ever Celebrity Fabric Design Smackdown. The combatants are none other than celebrated illustrator Heather Ross, organic textile designer Harmony Susalla of Harmony Art, up and comer Lizzie House, and the two reigning Spoonflower Fabric Of the Week champs, Samarra Khaja and Cean Irminger.

Is this really a smackdown? If you know the personalities involved it's more 'rumble in the humble' than 'rumble in the jungle.' But we're still going to call it a fight to the selvage. Five great designs, but you have only one vote. [Belated note of explanation: The theme of this contest is the elements — earth, air, fire, and water.]

We'll announce the winner next week and make the designs available for sale with 20% of the proceeds going to the charity of the winner's choice.

  • one thing that amazes and impresses me – and supports the “rumble in the humble” Stephen mentions – is that so far as I can tell NONE of these five women have mentioned the contest in their blog, or called on their blog or twitter followers to come support them, or publicly hinted which design might be theirs.
That speaks volumes about these five women to me, and their commitment to professionalism in this ought-to-be-anonymous contest. Well done, Heather, Harmony, Lizzie, Samarra and Cean! For that fact alone I wish I could vote for all five of your designs!
