Tessellations. Design fabric using
the mathematical principle of tessellation, or tiling, where the
design consists of a shape repeated over and over again covering the
fabric
without any gaps or overlaps. This can be done very crudely, of course,
with squares, but for more sophisticated examples see the work of M. C. Escher
and the tile
mosaics of the Alhambra palace in Spain. You can find tutorials on
creating this sort of design, as well as examples, on Tessellations.org. Deadline is
Tuesday, April 13, at noon EST.
Water
Colors. Submit only fabric designs created using watercolor paints,
then digitized via scan or photograph. Please use minimal digital
manipulation in preparing your file for Spoonflower: the goal of this
contest is to showcase work done by hand. Deadline is Tuesday, April 6,
at noon EST.
Gardens. Contest
for fabric designs using gardens and gardening as a design motif. Entries
close on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at noon EST.
What happened to the Daffodil contest?
About to send out the email for voting!
Great! thanks, I was worried it disappeared into the ether.
Does gouache count?
Yes, gouache is fine for the water colors contest!
I’m so happy to have more lead time on the contests. Now I feel like I have time to get a design proofed before entering it.
