When I posted about the upcoming Fabric Of the Week theme in our email last week, I made two mistakes:
1) The deadline for submitting your design is Monday, November 2, 2009 at noon, EST — NOT November 5th, as I wrote in the email.
2) In addition to the prescribed palette of colors, I wrote initially that you could use only white. Upon further consideration, we decided that white AND black are both ok to use. Apologies for the late modification!
You can read more about the rules for entry and find the form to submit your Spoonflower design for the contest here.
Due to widespread dissatisfaction with the voting methods used in recent semifinal rounds, the upcoming voting this week will allow you to vote for as many — or as few — finalist candidates as you like in our doll panel design contest. So stay tuned!
so does this mean that this week you guys are still only picking the top 5? (just hoping you’ll change on that for selfish reasons:))

Stephen – since this contest has very specific guidelines (ie.colours, etc) will you be declining entries that don’t follow the rules? (ie. gradients, etc.) Will you also be checking to see if the hex codes, LAB colours match up or just eye-balling it?
KT, we’re still planning to pick the top five designs from this week and next so that we have ten in the final round (unless we have a tie for 5th place either week, in which case we’ll just have an odd number).
Apoo, we’re pretty laissez-faire about this sort of thing. If a submitted design has obviously bent or ignored the rules, we might disqualify it. But in almost all cases in the past we’ve let everyone in. The point of the contest in the end is to give those who enter a chance to share their work and the rest of us a chance to appreciate and be inspired by the entries. So I expect we’ll be eyeballing the colors in most cases.
Stephen,
Thanks for answering my question and I am glad you guys are changing the way we can vote…I think it will allow for people to vote for their true favorites.

When you submit a pattern for a contest do you get a notification email that the pattern/submission form was received?
If you submit through the entry form, then your entry was received. As long as the form is open, so are submissions.
Ok great, thanks for the quick response. I wasn’t sure if mine went through.
