I’m getting the sense that it’s not just my sewing room that’s seeing some heavy use lately, that everyone out there is buckling down and cranking out the sewing projects for the approaching holidays. Am I right? Several Spoonflower users have posted pics to our Flickr pool of completed creations in the last day or two , and I’m hoping there are a lot more to come. Have I mentioned before how much it tickles me to see a design transformed magically from a folded piece of fabric on our to-be-shipped shelf into a finished quilt, stuffed animal, lampshade (!), pair of pajamas, etc? I still love this job…
At left, this is one of my recent favorite projects, done by Lauren O’Brien and available through her Etsy shop. I particularly like it because I dig owls, and also because I recently made a couple little coin purses from this Purl tutorial and found it an unexpectedly ornery little beast of a project. So maybe learn from my temper tantrum and gluey fingers and let Lauren do the hard work for you. She does custom orders, too, if you email her. And I’m guessing hers don’t include glue smudges on the fabric like mine do.
