Chief Engineer
We are seeking an Engineering Chief to assist with the strategy development of our product offering, new features and underlying infrastructure while providing support and development for our team of talented engineers. This position is best suited for a creative, experienced engineer who lives and breathes the full stack, from Amazon EC2, to Memcache, MySQL, to Rails, Ruby, and front-end stuff (HTML/CSS/JS/Jquery). The ideal candidate should be able to provide meaningful collaboration, work well with tight knit engineering team and be excited for the opportunity contribute directly to the development and maintenance of Spoonflower's technology.
This position will be responsible for the following:- Lead, manage, and motivate highly experienced development team
- Must have strong project management skills
- Develop and provide challenging yet appropriate assignments, evaluates work, communicates progress
- Provide technical leadership for a team of engineers
- Can reach appropriate resolution in many varied situations and provide innovative solutions to complex problems.

Full Stack Engineer
We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer to help us build out our product offering, develop new features and work on our underlying infrastructure. - Continuously improving the existing codebase, including capture and tracking of defects, and prioritization of cure efforts.
- Monitoring quality, including the development and maintenance of robust unit and functional test coverage and methodologies for continuous code release.
- Implementing compelling, functional user interfaces that support the success of our Spoonflower technology
- Identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks
- Participating in design and code reviews
- Defining and communicating best practices for web-based user interface engineering across the organization

Image Processing Engineer
We are seeking an Image Processing Engineer to assist in designing system architecture and evaluating image processing solutions.The position will be responsible for research, development and implementation of live, user-facing image processing sub-system. The ideal candidate should be able to provide meaningful collaboration, work well with a tight knit engineering team and be excited for the opportunity contribute directly to the development and maintenance of Spoonflower's technology.
This position will be responsible for the following:- Define an API for our internal image processing service, to include thumbnailing, format conversion, vector to raster conversion, resizing, compositing, tiling, collage creation, color profile conversion, rendering a texture onto a 3-d mesh,
- Implement server-based solutions using a mix of open source and proprietary engines, including, imagemagick, imagescience, libtiff, ghostscript, blender, and inkscape
- Submit fixes and improvements to these projects
- Optimize the build of these engines for speed
- Create a test suite that validates accuracy and performance of API calls
- Create a set of clients that illustrate the use cases, so that anyone with a little experience can use the services.
- Collaborating with the team of engineers to integrate new techniques with Spoonflower’s preview tools.
- 3 years of experience in image processing
- Experience with C, Ruby
- Active history in open source projects

Network Administrator
We are seeking a Network Administrator to manage and maintain Spoonflower’s existing infrastructure. This position will be responsible for analyzing, escalated troubleshooting and repairing the LAN and telecommunications equipment and software, documentation, and maintaining the network hardware and systems. The ideal candidate should be able to provide meaningful collaboration, work well with a tight knit engineering team and be excited for the opportunity contribute directly to the development and maintenance of Spoonflower's technology.
This position will be responsible for the following:- Administer and maintain existing network and systems infrastructure as well as implement and configure additional network requirements as the company grows
- Monitor and test network performance and security to ensure that the network is working at optimal operation and performance
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring that all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
- System thresholding and monitoring
- Support desktop and print systems, including our antique hardwired fabric printers
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar capacity
- Approachable, good listener, problem solver
- Knowledge of the Cisco Product Line
- Knowledge of Linux Environment
- Experience with AWS services, specifically S3, EC2, RDS, and cloudwatch

Email & Online Marketing Specialist
The person who fills this role will work with the company's
owners to develop and implement an email marketing strategy that is
expanding to include transactional emails and behavior-based
segmentation and a more sophisticated subscription preference center for
Spoonflower community members. The position will be responsible for
advertising campaigns in Google and Facebook, as well as for coordinating our site's weekly fabric design contest and weekly emails
to our expanding, opt-in subscriber base of over 150,000 designers and
fabric-lovers. We are also looking for someone who can direct social
media marketing efforts, which include Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and
Pinterest. This position will coordinate with co-founders to expand and
refine our strategies for email, on-site messaging, SMS subscriptions
and other electronic communications with our customer community.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Managing the email campaign process full-circle, from definition to composition to deployment to reporting. This includes: planning, management and execution of email campaigns to deadlines; development of creative, engaging email content; proof-reading and testing of all campaigns.
- Developing strategies to improve customer acquisition, retention and reactivation through messaging strategies
- Analyzing customer behavior and characteristics to improve the performance of the email marketing program. This will require developing methods for analyzing, mining, and reporting on customer data.
- Defining requirements to automate recurring promotional campaigns and work with the technical team to implement the changes necessary to create these campaigns.
- Leveraging the Spoonflower database to drive segmentation and develop performance metrics and making recommendations based on the analysis.
- Use a test and learn approach to optimize program effectiveness and quantify results.
- Managing and improving existing pay-per-click campaigns using Google, Facebook, and other online markeing platforms.
- Excellent writing, a sparkling online personality, and great intuition about what sort of content our customers want to see and hear.
The goal of creating this position is to drive the development of
advanced email and online marketing strategies, including a preference center, segmentation,
dynamic content, and new e-communication tools (e.g. SMS, triggered
email, behavioral-based campaign programs). We are looking for a
candidate who has direct experience with one or more email and online marketing
platforms, who can help us evaluate new email marketing software
vendors, and who understands and can help a young startup implement best
practices and new technology to improve email relevance, customer
engagement, and sales.
When you start, you will be a one-person email department with access to
some assistance from our in-house engineering team, graphic designer
and staff photographers. But this is a position with the potential to
grow and develop alongside our fast-growing company. We're looking for
an intelligent, creative marketing professional with hands-on experience
in email marketing and above-average writing skills. Just as important,
we're looking for someone who gets Spoonflower's crafty, DIY community
of designers and fabric buyers and who loves what we do.

Customer Service Advocate
Customer Service Advocates at Spoonflower help us serve our rapidly growing community of designers, sewists, and fabric lovers. Spoonflower has a special relationship with the community that utilizes its website. Customer service is our most important marketing tool and we rely upon an engaged and positive relationship with our customers in order to grow. Creating positive interactions with customers while still managing time effectively is one of the primary skills of a Customer Service Advocate.
We're seeking an individual who is an excellent communicator, patient, positive, manages time well and displays a high energy level. This position will be joining a small, tight knit team that handles individual communications with members of the Spoonflower community via email, telephone, and through published help documents. Posing a genuine curiosity about the customers we serve and having an interest in DIY culture, fabric and design is part of the culture for Spoonflower employees.
This position will be responsible for the following:- Providing information and help for customers interested in using our services to print fabric, wallpaper, decals and gift wrap. This often includes questions about preparing digital images using Photoshop and similar programs.
- Answering questions about existing orders by telephone and email.
- Contributing to reference information published for the benefit of the Spoonflower community.
- Resolving issues using a set of judgements that values the goodwill of customers over short term costs. Accomplishing this in a way that is practical requires sensitivity, good judgement and quick thinking.
- Researching the cause of product and technology problems from the standpoint of Spoonflower's systems and then work with engineering and operations team members to try to improve processes and to keep the same issue from affecting other customers.
- Display written and verbal communications that are clear and thoughtful as well as free of grammatical and typographical mistakes.
- 1 to 2 years of customer service or technical support experience.
- Some college education preferred
- Bonus skills for this position include a familiarity with the technical issues associated with digital design files and the use of software like Photoshop and Illustrator to create artwork.
- Ability to work weekends as needed per the rotating schedule of the team.
Salary Range $14 to $17 per hour and is commensurate with experience
