Upcoming fabric design contests: Alphabet, Poetry, B&W, Ice Cream, Folk Tales

FabricOfWeek-150px (1) In case you missed it, we've announced a few new themes for upcoming Fabric Of the Week contests, including Alphabet, Poetry, Black & White, Ice Cream, and Folk Tales. The deadlines appear below, and a full set of rules and instructions for entry appears on our upcoming contests page.

Alphabet: Submit a fabric design that uses the alphabet as a design motif. The use of fonts created by others is acceptable as long as the license for the font or fonts you use includes permission to create derived works for commercial use. Please submit original work. Do not submit centered images unless the design is intended to be ordered as a pattern rather than as fabric. Entry deadline is Tuesday, April 12, 2011.

Poetry. This is a contest to create a fabric design inspired by the imagery in a particular poem that you love. In your design description, you must note the specific poem and poet that inspired your design. Please do not reproduce poems in their entirety without permission, either in your fabric description or in your design. Entry deadline is Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Quarter-yard previews (21" x 18").

Black & white. This is a contest for fabric designs using only black and white. No gray. No gradients, please. Entry deadline is Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Quarter-yard previews (21" x 18").

Ice cream. This is a contest for fabric designs using ice cream as a design motif. Entry deadline is Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Quarter-yard previews (21" x 18").

Folk tales. This is a contest for fabric designs based on folk tales. Please share the title of the folk tale that inspired you in the design description. Entry deadline is Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Quarter-yard previews (21" x 18").
