When will Spoonflower be open?

We're getting this question a lot, as you can imagine. Here's the latest:

Updated on 6-03-2008: We're working our way through the beta wait-list. Over 1,000 people have already received invitations to try out the beta site, and a few hundred are left on the list as of this writing. Unless we get completely slammed by an unexpected PR event ("Please don't throw me in the brier patch!") everyone currently on the list should have received an invitation within the next week or so. Until we're fully up and running, however, we will continue to send invitations only to people who've added their email addresses to the wait list. Sign up for list here.

In the second week of May we will start to email invitations to create Spoonflower accounts to a small number of beta-testers. Because such a large number of people are interested in participating in the beta (thanks everyone!) we'll expand the number of invitations we send slowly over a period of two months or so. At the end of two or three months we hope to be able to take the wrapper off the web site and open registrations to everyone, but we'll have to see how things go. Thanks for being patient, and thank you again for all the encouragement. We're looking forward to hearing your suggestions and ideas.

Cannot wait to see how things go!

Hello - I just discovered your blog and I'm very excited about your new business! I'm also from NC (Raleigh/Greensboro), and would love to be involved in your business - if you need help please let me know!

i'm so excited! i want to be a beta tester! :)

I'd be interested in beta testing too-- I'm also in Raleigh. I'm a mixed-media illustrator with an interest in textile arts.

Oh I want to learn more!!! I'm an artist and so is hubbie and I do textile work...This sounds exciting!

This is a great idea! I have a BFA in textile design, and would love to debut some fabrics at the One Of A Kind show in Chicago this winter. I also write daily for the Ponoko blog. Good luck!

Will people be able to buy the fabrics I create through the Spoonflower site, or only from me?

Erin, eventually you will have the option to make your designs available for sale. Right now you could set up another site to sell your design using Google checkout or Paypal or some other easy-to-implement payment system, then when someone buys the design on the other you can place an order on Spoonflower and have it shipped to that person.

I can't wait to use your new site! I think I'm on your waiting list and will start creating designs to print (hopefully later this summer). I have a BFA in Fibers from SCAD and work as a carpet designer with a textile design program. I can't wait to see how my own designs will print up on whatever materials you are offering as print bases (are there choices?). You guys have a wonderful idea here and I'll be passing the word on to my other textile design and fiber friends!

When you said above "take the wrapper off the website" it made me think of custom wrapping paper, just a thought...

I just can't wait to use your new site. This is a wonderful idea and I have been waiting for something like this for many moons. I'm on the list, and just patiently waiting. Good things are worth the wait. Thanks! :)

today i was making a post about how to use photoshop for make prints in repeat, but it´s so hrd to me to translate...
my question is i am a freelancer textile designer. Can i just have a exclusive collection showing here for , maybe, to find someone that want to buy the file also??
